Between Holmrook (on A595) and Santon
The Celtic Cross amidst the other grave stones in the church yard bears witness to this being a meeting place for Christians in the ninth century, probably earlier. The present, rather grand Victorian, Church (a Grade One listed building) has recently been restored and is in fine fettle. Interesting Banners and William Morris windows. To this place a small congregation comes regularly and on other occasions the entire scattered community fills the place with prayer and praise. As you leave the building look up - the view up Wasdale is always stunning.
